Fans of Homeland should brace themselves for some major changes once the show returns to the small screens this September. The hit Showtime drama has already generated much excitement from viewers following an announcement that Homeland Season 5 will take place after a major time jump.
The Homeland Season 5 Spoilers have reported that the upcoming season will take place around two years into the future. Fans will also be seeing Carrie (Claire Danes) trying to live life as 'normally' as possible now that she is no longer a CIA agent.
"We're going to jump two and a half years forward. We are going to be shooting the show in Europe - probably in Germany - and Carrie will no longer be an intelligence officer." executive producer Alex Gansa said.
Gansa also confirmed that Homeland Season 5 will also be taking place overseas. The reports have also stated that the crew have already began filming in Germany. What would life be like for Carrie now that she is no longer part of the CIA?
"As we open the season, Saul [Mandy Patinkin] is back in the CIA and Carrie is out of it," Gansa teased. Could Carrie have quit the CIA because of a failed mission back in Homeland Season 4?
Viewers are also hoping that Homeland Season 5 will finally bring Carrie and her almost-boyfriend Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) together. The Homeland Season 5 Spoilers have suggested that a romance or possible relationship won't be happening anytime soon.
Gansa and crew have emphasized that while Quinn and Carrie definitely have chemistry going on, they will need to work on some tweaks and make the romance more "operational."
"How much is just that they recognize each other so well? How much is the desire for both of them to move on past this job that they do. Those are the questions that we're wrestling with," said Gansa. "We wrestled with them last season. We're wrestling with them again."
