‘Avatar 2’ Update: James Cameron sets in for 4 more 'Avatar' movies; 4 screenwriters working on film scripts

By

"Avatar" director James Cameron decided that he is going to spend his entire life making "Avatar" sequels. It was previously planned that "Avatar 2" will come in movie houses in 2017, and followed by "Avatar 3" and "Avatar 4" in 2018 and 2019. As of now, there are other four script writers working on "Avatar" sequels, which imply that the upcoming sequels are going to be definitely another blockbuster hit.

James Horner recently revealed that James Cameron is producing a script material, and that it can continue the Avatar movie franchhise to "Avatar 5." Horner reportedly said, "Right now, Jim has got four sequels, script-wise, and he's trying to make it into three. And that's where his effort is going, right now, to keep it to three sequels. Because he's got so much going on. How do you keep it from expanding into yet a fourth movie-a fifth movie, I guess, total. He'll get that sorted out."

"Avatar" fans were expecting that the movie would end up with just two sequels. However, what seems to be an assurance that the film would have more than two Avatar sequels is Cameron's statement that two is "not enough" to tell the whole story. He came to realize that the world of "Avatar", its story, and characters became "even richer that I anticipated. He said, "It became apparent that two films would not be enough to capture everything I wanted to put on screen."

James Cameron is known for being a perfectionist, and there would be possible delays on the release of the "Avatar 2." If this happens, the final "Avatar" installment might be released in 2019 or 2020, or could be after 2 years.

The task of making the stories of three "Avatar" sequels into smooth and understandable is difficult, especially now that it has turned into four. The complexity of the story led Cameron to delay the release of "Avatar 2" in 2017. However, he has Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman, and Shane Salerno's help in nailing the script.

According to Cameron, "We're writing three simultaneously. And we've done that so that everything tracks throughout the three films. We're not just going to do one and then make up another one and another one after that. And parallel with that, we're doing all the design. So we've designed all the creatures and the environments."

'Avatar 2' is set to premiere on 2017, and while it is still a long way before the production starts, James Cameron has already set things in motion for 4 more 'Avatar' movies. Fans are hoping that he and his 4 screenwriters will create a solid universe for the Avatar film franchise.
