Fans of the Dead Island franchise will have to wait until next year to get their hands on the latest game according to the title's publisher.
The announcement of the delay was announced by Dead Silver on the franchise's Twitter account, according to Polygon.
Deep Silver offered more thoughts on why they delayed the game in a Twitlonger post.
"We have been looking at the game long and hard, and we have decided we didn't reach that goal we set out to achieve quite yet. This is why we have decided to delay Dead Island 2 to 2016," said Deep Silver. The post goes on at length, but in essence, Deep Silver has chosen to delay the game for a year in order to further refine and improve all the elements they want to include inside of it.
Deep Silver also acknowledged how fans may be disappointed by the news of the game being delayed but they are ensuring fans that the wait will be more than worth it when they come out with a full experience made better by an additional year of development, according to IGN.
Dead Island 2 is expected to include elements of a classic role-playing game along with handcrafted weapons that have never existed in the video game universe prior to this title. The game is also going to take players to several well known locations including the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and Venice Beach.
The game will also ask players to choose from different classes to define just exactly what their character will be as they make progress through the game, and for those who want to slay zombies in groups, Dead Island 2 is also expected to support multiplayer mode for up to eight players.
For fans who are still looking for their Dead Island fix, the good news is that they can tide themselves over with Dead Island Epidemic, a new MOBA game currently available in open beta, according to Gamespot.
