Soul Calibur developer asking fans to name their favorite character from the series ahead of planned announcement

Excitement builds around the Soul Calibur series as buzz around a huge announcement concerning the franchise continues to grow.

In addition to a huge announcement waiting in the wings for fans to look forward to, those same folks are also intrigued by the game's developers, Project Soul, current preoccupation of asking fans just exactly who their favorite characters from the franchise actually are, according to Gamespot.

"Calling all SoulCalibur Fans! Project Soul would like to hear your voice. They need to determine precisely who are the favorite characters of the community," said Project Soul. Project Soul is currently holding a poll on their Facebook page to see just exactly who the fans do indeed name as their favorite character from the long-running franchise, according to IGN.

The entire survey includes 45 different characters that have appeared in the franchise's games over the years. At the moment, some of the top vote-getters in the poll include franchise stalwarts such as Siegfried, Ivy, Mitsurugi, and even Yoshimitsu, a character also well known in the Tekken universe.

Currently, the poll has had around 2800 voters participate in the proceedings, and fans who also want to make their voices heard can cast their own vote either by PC or through mobile. Fans can only vote once, so they need to be careful just exactly who they designate as their favorite from the entire franchise.

The game's developers have also said that the poll currently being conducted has nothing to do with SoulCalibur: Lost Swords, a free-to-play game released last year. Instead, Project Soul clarified that the poll is more for the overall franchise, but went no further than that. The developer stopped short of saying the result of the poll could possibly have bearing on any new game coming from the franchise.

No word yet on whether any new Soul Calibur game is on its way. The favorite Soul Calibur character poll will end on May 31, according to Playstation Lifestyle.
