The Following will be airing a two-hour episode next week, and it's going to be both episodes 12 ("The Edge") and 13 ("A Simple Trade"). This is double episode explores the aftermath of Joe's death on Ryan Hardy, and continues the investigations on Theo Noble and the hacking on Daisy's laptop.
After the reeling events surrounding the execution of Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) - the hostage drama, the confrontation, revelations, and Carroll's death - Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) is seen to have spiraled down and succumbing back to his alcohol addiction. A look back in Episode 11: Demons shows Hardy having a very difficult time dealing with the previous episode's events, even getting violent as he rekindles his relationship with alcohol.
But despite Hardy's condition, he and the team are still investigating the serial killer linked to Theo Noble (Michael Ealy). Theo and Penny (Megalyn Echikunwoke), on the other hand, try to disappear together with the use of the coordinates they found in Dr. Strauss' (Gregg Henry) journal. While the investigation on the hacking of Daisy's (Ruth Kearny) laptop in the FBI office is revealing more clues, connecting Tom (Gbenga Akinnagbe) to the spying case.
As The Following Season 3 moves forward to the special two-hour event, here's what we can expect from Episode 12: The Edge and Episode 13: A Simple Trade next week. The investigation on Daisy's hacked laptop continues and leads her and Mark (Sam Underwood) closer to answers and endangers agent Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore) in the process.
Ryan Hardy is still spiraling down and it doesn't seem to get any better. Trying to hide his recent violent and reckless behavior, he continues to work with the team on their investigation of the serial killer linked to Theo. Things don't go according to plan as they make a deadly deal, leaving Ryan to make a decision that involves his future.
This special two-hour episode of The Following Season 3 Episodes 12 and 13 is scheduled to air next week, May 11.
