Lionsgate announced in 2014 that they will be making a "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot movie and fans expecting that the much-anticipated flick will be released by July 22, 2016. However, they should not have their hopes up as the movie is said to be out in theatres by January 13, 2017 due to the unfinished production and casting.
According to a report, the delay might be because the production and the casting are still in the works but Lionsgate did not confirm this yet. Also, there is still no definite director or actors for the cast but Roberto Orci is confirmed to be the executive producer.
"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" was first made back in 1995 and the series has been on TV screens and around the world for more than two decades now. The series that was produced by Saban is about teenagers using their superpowers and their mechanical robots to battle the villains in their area.
Two months after Lionsgate announced the said reboot, it was also reported that the screen writers for "X-Men: First Class," Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, are the ones making the script for the flick. Dean Israelite was also rumored to be the director of the movie. He directed the flick "Project Almanac."
Movie analysts are saying that the change of date for the reboot is said to be baffling because January is not a good month to release new movies. Flicks are usually set in the summer or in November or December as these are the months that people and families are on break.
The movie is said to be a modern intervention of the old T.V. series and will be focusing on high school students who discover they have extraterrestrial powers.
