Excitement continues to surround Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege as the recently released trailer introduced the British Special Forces unit or the SAS, a team called The Regiment. Ubisoft has begun unveiling the features of the British team characters in a weekly Operator Spotlight. Two of the four operator details have been revealed: Sledge and Thatcher.
The trailer featured four operators from Her Majesty's elite Special Air Service or SAS, and sure enough, the video showed the team in close gunfight as they stormed an aircraft. The four operators from the British Unit are labelled Mute, Thatcher, Smoke, and Sledge. Ubisoft has promised that every week, they will unveil a new Operator Spotlight and so far, details about Sledge and Thatcher have been revealed.
Sledge goes by the motto "Who Needs Explosives" as he specializes in creating unusual paths for his teammates with one swing of his tactical breaching hammer, "The Caber." The Caber is specially designed with exceptional size and weight to quickly go through multiple destructible walls, floors, and barricades. What most agents cannot do, Sledge's outstanding physical prowess allows him to efficiently handle and use The Caber.
With the use of The Caber, enemies can be taken by surprise as it makes less noise than the usual explosives. However, it would leave the team exposed so it's best to be ready to take cover from enemy fire.
Thatcher goes by the motto "Light's Out" and features exceptional abilities in disabling enemy traps. His unique gadget is the EMP grenade which can disable any electronics in range of its blast. Thatcher is the only one capable enough to handle the EMP grenade as he is known for not being over-reliant on technology.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege follows the United Nations counterterrorist unit codenamed Rainbow. The game is slated for release in 2015 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One consoles.
