'Captain America: Civil War' Sets Up 'Avengers: Infinity War'; Will Josh Brolin Cameo as Thanos?

By

Captain America: Civil War is already one of the most anticipated comic book movies out there (it's Captain America vs Iron Man- how could it not be?). But the latest news about this Marvel sequel is only going to make it bigger- according to star Chris Evans, the film's story is going to lead directly into Avengers: Infinity War.

Here's the official quote from Evans (who stars as Steve Rogers, aka the super-enhanced Captain America):

"It's to jump off into the next Avengers, Infinity War, so Cap 3 is going to be the set-up of the real battle, so yea, there are a lot of people. There are a lot of people in Cap 3."

This isn't so surprising, given that the last Captain America film, Winter Soldier, was the Marvel Universe's big jumping off point into Avengers: Age of Ultron (which just opened this weekend, to rave reviews). It's also not surprising that Captain America: Civil War is going to have a lot of people in it, considering the huge cast the film's already cultivate. Along with Chris Evans as Captain America, the film stars Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther and the yet-to-be-cast Spider-Man (rumored to be Asa Butterfield). As well, Daniel Bruhl and Frank Grillo star as the villainous Baron Zemo and Crossbones, respectively.

But the question remains- just how will Civil War lead into Infinity War? Could Thanos, played by Josh Brolin (last seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron) make an appearance? Considering Infinity War is all about Thanos and his Infinity Gauntlet, it might be likely. We'll have to see when Civil War finally hits theaters next summer.

Captain America: Civil War premieres on May 6, 2016.
