Jurassic World can eat its heart out, well, maybe a little, but either way, it looks like the summer blockbuster is getting some competition in the dinosaur film category with the upcoming Dinosaurs vs. Cowboys.
For those who are unfortunately unfamiliar with this film, the story begins when a mining explosion unearths and revives a horde of bloodthirsty dinosaurs. With the dinosaurs now rampaging around the small town of Livingston, Montana, it is up to an old cowboy, who just recently made his way back home to mend fences with his ex-girlfriend, to stop these creatures dead in their tracks along with some help from the locals.
As an added twist, that old cowboy has to work closely with the current boyfriend of his ex to thwart the impending dinosaur threat, according to IGN. While the plot does indeed reek of elements so ridiculous that sheer curiosity to see how they all play out could lead viewers in, it's not exactly Oscar-worthy, but that's not an entirely negative trait of the film.
That's because Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs is meant to appeal to the subset of viewers who were also entranced by yet another ridiculous monster movie, Sharknado, according to Tech Times. Starring in the film is Oscar-nominated actor Eric Roberts. It will also be directed by Ari Novak, whose previous work includes a turn at visual effects artist for the film Live Free or Die Hard.
It's unclear as of now whether Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs will be exclusively seen in the US or whether it could also have a run in the UK, according to the Metro UK. Folks who may be curious about whether or not the movie could soon be making its way to other parts of the world will have to wait for announcements coming from MarVista Entertainment.
Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs is coming to VOD and Digital HD starting May 19.
