‘Suicide Squad’ Movie Update: Task Force X Officially Released; Plot reveals formation of the Super Villain group

By

It looks like Jared Leto as The Joker is not the only one getting a treatment as the cast members of the superhero film "Suicide Squad" have been finally unveiled in costume by director David Ayer on Sunday. The director also took to Twitter a solo photo of Will Smith clad in a mask as the supervillain Deadshot.

Say Hello to Task Force X

The photo shared by director David Ayer, 47, includes the several cast of the upcoming DC Comics-based film including Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Adam Beach as Slipknot (but is currently unconfirmed), Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and most importantly, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. "Task Force X assembled and ready. #SuicideSquad," Ayer wrote on Twitter. At first glance, the actors could not be distinguishable under those heavy make up and wardrobe.

However, as much as this is interesting, the absence of Jared Leto as The Joker is noticeable from the photo. Going back just last month, director Ayer also first debuted Leto's hideous look as the skilled supervillain. Could this mean he is not something imperative to the film? Or are they cooking something up for him? But no, previous report says he will be having a pivotal role in the anti-superhero pic.

Meanwhile, shortly after posting the cast members of "Suicide Squad," the "Fast and the Furious" director also unveiled the first look of Will Smith as Deadshot in a separate image. And boy did we admire the resemblance of him in the antihero assassin, donning a mask, bearing the cybernetic eye, and is lugging a gun. In the comic books, he is known as Floyd Lawton, a hired assassin and the greatest marksman. Similarly, he is recognized to be the second most lethal assassin in all of DC Universe.

Task Force X Formation?

Furthermore, while the official plot hasn't been revealed, Screenrant has some insights thanks to Latino Reviews' report. The film will most likely begin by uniting Floyd Lawton also known as Deadshot (Will Smith) and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). However, their meeting will just be a happenstance as Deadshot, knowing him as an assassin, has been contracted to kill an Arkham inmate while being transferred, and Harley crashes the operation to free her beloved Joker (Jared Leto). Their meeting plan finally happens, causing them to be arrested and transferred to Belle Reve prison under the watchful eye of warden Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). And once they've settled in, both of the pair will be recruited into Task Force X of the "Suicide Squad" and the rest is history. They would get to interact with the cast members previously tweeted by director Ayer.

As much as fans are eager to know how the plot will really revolve, there is no word yet from DC Comics and Warner Bros. And with that, are you rooting for this WB film? How do you think the plot will really play out? Make sure to check out the film itself, it debuts before the Batman-Superman standoff on August 5th, 2016.
