Boston Marathon Trial Update: Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Cries After Seeing Relatives Testify On The Stand

By

Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev finally showed emotion on Monday after his relatives and friends testified for his life noting that he was a genius and goofy schoolboy. This is the first time that the bomber cried while undergoing the Boston Marathon trial.

Just weeks after the Boston Marathon bombing reached its first year anniversary, the aunts and cousins of Tsarnaev went to court to plead for his life. The 21-year-old was tried since January this year and has been very passive and icy whenever he appeared in court even if he was presented with photos of the murdered children and other victims during the bombing.

The Dzhokhar Tsarnaev reportedly wiped his tears when he saw his aunt who was sobbing as she testified. The aunt was identified as Patimat Suleimanova, the sister of Tsarnaev's mother, and she was not able to talk about her nephew as she sobbed uncontrollably. She was only able to answer questions about her name, her age, and where she was born.

According to reports, the testimonies by two of Tsarnaev's aunts and cousins was an effort for his lawyers to emotionally impact the jury and humanize his punishment. Tsarnaev was the younger brother of Tamerlan, who was the mastermind of the said bombing.

One of Tsarnaev's relatives took the stand and even shared that the other half of the Boston Marathon bomber was a sensitive child as he even wept when he watched "The Lion King." The relatives of Tsarnaev arrived in Boston last month and were on guard by 16 staffers since their arrival.

Another relative shared that they are shocked of what the Tsarnaev brthers did and they are very scared but at the same time in pain. However, the relative pointed out that they never had anyone do such in their family despite their religion.

Tsarnaev was found guilty last month on all 30 federal charges linked with the bombing including 17 of these charges that might have him face death penalty. The jury is yet to decide regarding the sentencing of Tsarnaev as they choose between the bomber being executed or having to spend his life in prison.
