Even though Star Wars: Episode 7 The Force Awakens isn't going to hit cinemas until December at the earliest, excitement around the film is already reaching incredible heights, and with two more characters confirmed for the film, the hype only figures to build even more.
The first of the two confirmed characters is Kylo Ren, as played by Adam Driver. Ren is one of the main antagonists in the movie. He resides on what appears to be a planet made of ice and is followed by stormtroopers.
Kylo Ren is also expected to be the mysterious figure who was shown wielding the hilted lightsaber in the first trailer released for the movie, according to Vanity Fair. Time will tell if Driver's performance will be as polarizing as the multi-pronged lightsaber.
Also confirmed for the film is the character going by the name of Maz Kanata, a pirate who is shown completely in CGI for the film. Kanata will be played by Lupita Nyong'o from the film 12 Years a Slave. It is currently unclear which side Kanata will be fighting on, so fans will have to wait until the movie is released to find that out.
The CGI work to be done for Kanata will be handled by Industrial Light & Magic, according to Gamespot. Kylo Ren and Maz Kanata were revealed as part of the cast in a photoshoot by Vanity Fair done with multiple members of ensemble for the film.
Other stars of the film included in the photoshoot included Oscar Isaac in full costume as Poe Dameron posing alongside his iconic X-Wing, according to Tech Radar. Other members of the cast on hand for the photoshoot were Daisy Ridley, Peter Mayhew, John Boyega, and none other than Harrison Ford as they all posed while wearing their designated attire for the film.
The photo of the four actors appears on Vanity Fair's June issue.
