Grand Theft Auto 5 PC, Xbox One, PS4 Update: Rockstar swiftly moves In, bans mods with Gravity Gun and other cheats in GTA Online

By

Rockstar has started banning Grand Theft Auto 5 players using mods and other cheats from GTA online both in single player and multiplayer modes.

"Our fans do some amazing things with our games, but our priority is on making sure nothing detracts from the integrity of the GTA Online experience, and working to prevent anything that can potentially have a negative impact on the overall community," Rockstar told IGN in an interview shortly after the game was released in April.

Simply having a mod installed even if not used in GTA Online multiplayer is enough to get a ban. Some players are posting on forums that mods kept in offline single-player mode can cause bans as well.

According to reports, Rockstar checks a player's connection to the Social Club, and may not be making any distinction actual cheaters and players who are only modifying some aspects of or customizing the game.

Many players using FOV mods were also banned by Rockstar. Rockstar clarified FoV mods are not part of the cosmetic changes it allows.

Players who wish to get the ban removed have to uninstall any mod or cheat and call Rockstar for assistance.

There have been instances of players making use of the god mode, money shooting guns, flying off with a car, low gravity and, until recently, a gravity gun. There are a lot more, and there have been fun reaction to it. However, it gives users a huge advantage over others not using any of those or do not know how to use one.

Despite this development, some players in the forums believe Rockstar has no means of finding who are really cheating, hence they put in an undiscriminating implementation of the ban.

Looks like Rockstar is very serious in banning erring Grand Theft Auto 5 players who would insist on using the aforementioned mods. Despite the concept of the game, everyone appears to be purely after good clean fun.
