Previously on General Hospital, Hayden and Nikolas intimidated each other, but later they end up making out. Spencer disturbs them and asks who she is. Suddenly Nikolas says she's just leaving and she's only a work associate. Nikolas guides Hayden out and advises her not to contact him again.
Later, Nikolas informs Spencer to be ready for the ball, but his sons don't feel like attending it this year because of what had happened recently. Nikolas tells him to his face, that he has to accept what occurred and the reality that Emma's gone. Meanwhile, at the Metro Court, Ric shows Molly the ring he purchased to propose marriage to Liz with, and Molly convinces her dad not to pursue it.
She says that Liz could still have feelings for Jake, but Ric tells her not to worry because he and Liz are right for each other. Jake runs into Liz, outside the ballroom, saying he heard that she reunited with Ric, and Liz says yes. Liz informs him that Hayden told her to back off from him because they are back together.
Jake refutes this and says that he and Hayden did come back together. Liz says that Hayden should be worried something is still up between the two of them, and Jake says that he hopes there was. Liz and Jake almost kiss, but then Hayden suddenly appears and tells Jake that she needs to talk to him.
