"The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair" has been announced as the next film in development in place of "The Magician's Nephew."
With the decreasing earnings of "Narnia" franchise tracing back to its first movie adaptation, the last two series are considered flop with each's revenue almost half of the initiating chapter.
Narnia Web accounts "The Chronicles" earnings in the box office as follows: Walden Media and Walt Disney Pictures released their film adaptation of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" in December 2005, grossing $745 Million worldwide.
"Prince Caspian" was released in May 2008 and grossed $420 Million worldwide.
20th Century Fox and Walden Media finally released "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" in December 2010 and grossed $415 Million worldwide.
The movie series have grossed over $1.5 Billion worldwide in totality.
At present, The Mark Gordon Company is developing "The Silver Chair" that caused intense debate among avid fans because "The Magician's Nephew" was supposed to be the fourth film instead.
Part of the future of "The Silver Chair" in the box office will surely come from the partnership of Mark Gordon Company and eOne together creating a studio to handle the production and overall cost of "The Silver Chair".
The said company and C.S. Lewis Estate previously announced that the movie in talk has been in the works since October of 2013.
One of the difficulties faced in the movie series was its alleged inclination to Christianity leading the franchise to be the target of criticisms from Atheists for being Christian Propaganda, by Christian critics for distorting Lewis's Christian Message and for spreading blasphemous works.
"The Silver Chair", as opposed to its predecessors and "The Magician's Nephew", does not contain explicit religious themes which in turn relieves concerned fans.
Despite contradictions from both religious and un-religious groups, TIME magazine still included "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" in the list of "100 Best Young Adult Books of all Time."
Aslan (Liam Neeson), the true King of Narnia, will take the waiting viewers again on a tour to the kingdom with "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair" in its worldwide theaters release in 2016.
