Sam Smith Seeks Treatment after Damaged Vocal Cords; Singer Drops Australia and Asia Shows

By

Fans of the English singer Sam Smith must be lamenting in the lonely hour after he announced last week that he will cancel his upcoming tour dates due to a hemorrhage on his vocal cords. The Brit singer took to Instagram and Facebook a series of posts detailing how sad he was to cancel his shows in Australia, Japan, and the Philippines. Smith also spelled out that he will fly back to US to seek a specialist for his bleeding vocal cords.

Coming from his Instagram account, the Grammy Award-winner initially announced his illness coupled with the announcement of the cancellation of his Australian tour. "I am deeply, deeply saddened to tell my Australian fans, I have to cancel my Australian tour," Sam Smith wrote. "I had a small haemorrhage on my vocal chords," he detailed. He also stated that his doctors advised him to have a full rest, causing his sold-out shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth in the Land Down Under to be rescinded. "I am so sorry to all who have bought tickets, I truly am. This kills me," he added.

After his sad Instagram announcement, he lately posted again a black and white image of him clad in what looks like a raincoat, to which detailed he's in the middle of Australia with no means of communication and is just doing okay. Likewise, he also declared that he hasn't spoken a word in three days.

Unfortunately, his damaged vocal cords do not seem to be healing rapidly as he recently told his fans that he dropped his shows in Japan and Manila. The "Stay With Me" singer accompanied the statement with a photograph of himself in a striped jumper, jeans and trainers looking sad and facing the sea. "Very upset about Japan and Manilla dates," he wrote. "I've just left Australia and I'm on my way to the states to see a specialist to see what to do from there ...." And with him being frustrated with the medical emergency, he added: "This is fucking horrid."

Sam Smith To Reschedule Shows In Australia, Japan, and the Philippines

While Smith has just touched down to the US to seek treatment, he didn't forget to console his fans, who are probably listening to his melancholic 2014 record "In The Lonely Hour," by rearranging the missed shows. Those who have bought tickets to his sold-out shows in Australia should still hold on longer as the dates will be rescheduled in December.

The English singer's concert in Tokyo and Manila is supposed to take place this weekend, but Japanese fans will get an early treatment as Smith is scheduled to return to the Land of the Rising Sun to play two sold-out shows in July and August. On the other hand, Manila fans should wait a month longer as his show was moved in October.

Very well. Everyone's waiting for you Sam Smith, make sure to have an immediate recovery! Meanwhile, are you a fan of Sam Smith? What are your favorite songs from his "In The Lonely Hour" album? Send him your love today on the comments section below!
