Bombardier Inc. has announced that it reached agreement with Russian aircraft leasing company Ilyushin Finance Co. to sell up to 42 of its new C-series jetliners.
According to Bombardier sources, Ilyushin is expected to purchase 32 130-seat CS300 jetliners for about $2.56 billion from Bombardier. It may also buy another 10 Bombardier jets, which could deal could sum up to $3.42 billion.
Subject to a vote by shareholders at Ilyushin, the deal is expanded on a tentative agreement, which was signed in 2011, for the purchase of at least 10 of the Bombardier jets.
Ranked number 3 in plane and large passenger train industry in the world, Bombardier added that it delayed the inaugural flight of the C-series aircraft in November 2012 as it makes strong move in the mid-size jet market dominated by Airbus and Boeing.
