Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Release Date: 2K, 4K Display Variants except Exynos 7422; Wireless Charging, Better Battery Life, More S Pen Functionality to Arrive on the Device?

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 September release is just a few months away, yet concrete information about this upcoming phablet remains scarce. The most recent information circulating about the device concerns display, processors, and the absence of multiple variants.

In a report by SamMobile , the Galaxy Note 5 will either retain the 2k display or jump to 4k resolution to bring in something new to the table. For tech companies, staying ahead of the competition means coming up with top-of-the-line specifications and 4k display is definitely the next best option.

Taking the jump from the current 2K display to 4K display definitely comes with a tradeoff. If Samsung is not going to match the power-hungry app resolution that is 4K, it must stick with the current resolution display. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 sports a 5.7-inch display with a pixel resolution of 1440 x 2560 (equivalent to a stunning 515ppi). Its battery life is not the best there is but it's also not the worst.

The same source that reveals the fresh information about the Galaxy Note 5 said that the device will run on Exynos 7422 processor, Samsung's homegrown modem. If that is true, the upcoming phablet will be the first to have the first ever all-in-one solution (ePoP). As such, it will combine CPU, storage, RAM, and modem on a single chip. Samsung had already done it before with Galaxy Alpha but it only combined storage and RAM in a single chip.

Moreover, there will be no release of multiple Galaxy Note 5 variants this year as Samsung is still developing the Exynos 7430 chip that is expected to power the successor for the Galaxy Note Edge. This means that the Galaxy Note 5 edge (named 'Project Zen' internally) that will be launched alongside Galaxy Note 5 in September will not be a flagship device.

These fresh Samsung Galaxy Note 5 details pertain to the initial process of developing the Galaxy Note 5, this according to the SamMobile's insider. More specs and functionalities shall be added as September draws nearer, and hopefully those are already introduced in its current flagship phones, Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. These include wireless support and improved fingerprint scanner. More S Pen functionality, larger storage versions, a flexible display and most importantly better battery capacities would be very much appreciated.
