Emily Blunt To Play Bull-Rider in Khurram Longi's "Bronco Belle"; Writer-Director Reveals Lead Role Part Meant For The "Edge of Tomorrow" Star

"Edge of Tomorrow" and "Into The Woods" actress Emily Blunt is set to star as the bull-riding lead role in "Bronco Belle". First time writer-director Khurram Longi says that the lead role part was written for the actress.

After fighting aliens and lifting a curse in her recent movies "Edge of Tomorrow" and "Into the Woods", Emily Blunt is set to ride bulls next in her upcoming movie "Bronco Bell'. Blunt will play the role of Raylene Jackson, a spirited woman who dreams of becoming a champion in bull riding -a sport that has been dominated by men. Jackson then teams up with an old trainer and a hustler promoter in order to top the sport.

According to ScreenDaily, Longi's idea of "Bronco Belle" came up after a recent road trip across America saying "We were driving down from New York and ended up in Texas where by chance we stumbled across the world of rodeo. I had never been to one before. We started to follow the rodeo trail and the world inspired me to write this script."

He also mentioned that during the script writing, he was heavily influenced by films like "Thelma & Louise" and "The Color of Money".

"For me this is a female Rocky-on-a-bull type of film. I thought it was a great hook. After seeing Emily in Edge of Tomorrow I thought she would be perfect so had her in my mind as I was writing it," Longi added.

Embankment Films is planning to launch the project to the Cannes market before production starts in autumn 2015. "Bronco Belle" will be the next movie with a rodeo bull riding backdrop after the Oscar-winning "Dallas Buyers Club" and Nicholas Sparks' adaptation "The Longest Ride".

As for Blunt, she will be next seen in Denis Villeneuve's upcoming Cannes competition entry Sicario soon. She will also star in the "Snow White and the Huntsman" sequel "The Huntsman" which will be released in 2016, though her character was not specified yet.
