SAP AG announced that it is in the process of acquiring SmartOps, a provider of inventory and service level optimization software programming. This would help SAP obtain 'real time supply chain' software programs that can help in propagating SAP HANA platform. With this platform, customers would be empowered to run their business in real time and make decisions quickly and promptly.
Many market analysts are projecting an annual growth rate of 7.7 percent and is expected exceed US$9 billion by 2013's end. This is very helpful because of volatile markets and the increasing complexity of logistics and support demands.
Included in the acquisition plan would be SmartOps employees joining the SAP labor force. The completion of the acquisition is expected to be done by the first quarter of 2013. The two firms have been working together since 2006 and SmartOps has been included in the program for solution extensions for SAP clients.
