General Hospital Anthony Geary: Leaves The Series After 30 Years, What's In Store For Luke In The Remaining Episodes?

General Hospital star joined the soap in 1978, as con-man Luke, running the supposed to be 13 week arc in the Campus Disco in Port Charles. His wedding with Laura Webber, his love interest in the series was a huge TV event in 1981.

Anthony's character has suffered many tribulations and trials. The truth is the actor bids good bye in the show in 1994, but made the comeback in 1991, as Luke's cousin and Bill Eckert look-alike because of his desire to play a character aside from Luke.

During an interview with the Insider, "The people at ABC and at 'GH' have been amazingly good to me, allowing me to live on two continents and treating me, for the most part, extremely well," Geary explained. "This show has been a huge part of my life for over half my life and Luke Spencer is my alter ego. But I'm just weary of the grind and have been for 20 years."

He won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for in Daytime Emmy Awards in a Drama Series for his work through the years, so what is he going to do after General Hospital? The actor says that he thinking of studying language because he want to learn more about Dutch to help him work on theatre and film career in Europe. Geary, who said he came to his decision in January; he will pursue filming until June.

Someone from ABC Daytime verified the actor's resignation, saying that the actor is always welcome and they will always open its door for him. ABC will always hope that he will be returning at some point, even if just for guest appearances.

The news about Geary is leaving the show comes a few days after the media revealed that Genie Francis. Who played Laura Spencer, Luke's wife, will make a comeback to the drama series for indefinite number of episodes this summer.
