It may have been late 80s when American rock band Faith No More have initially hit their success, but solid fans still have more faith in them up until now and they must be gushing as the San Francisco-based band will be releasing their first album in 18 years entitled "Sol Invictus" in May 18 this year. The new record consists of brand new ten tracks. And as for promotion, the band will also be touring UK for three shows.
The new LP "Sol Invictus" is Faith No More's long-awaited follow-up to their sixth studio record "Album Of The Year" in 1997. After their comeback last year with the release of "Motherfucker," the Bay Area band was known to be recording a new material. And now that it was almost ready, it was announced to be released next week. This must be something exceptional as the band's new album was recorded in their own studio in Oakland, California. In fact, the recoding process was completed in February.
As for the content of the new LP, the band told last year that it is influenced by garage punk band The Cramps, rock and roll guitarist Link Wray, and English rock band Siouxsie And The Banshees. And with recording it independently, lead singer Mike Patton admitted that is a huge deal for them to only have each other to answer to in their career. Likewise, Patton has an early comeback for those who will not appreciate their new record. "I don't know what people will think of [the album], but I'll tell you one thing-we're really f-ing happy with it. If people think it's some kind of half-hearted comeback or some limp-wristed f-ing attempt at becoming 'hip,' then they can kiss my a-," Patton told Revolver.
Moreover, if fans couldn't wait to have an early listening party for the new material, it's good to know that it can be currently streamed via NPR Music. With head-pounding "Motherfucker" already been enjoyed, the tracklist for "Sol Invictus" is as follows: "Superhero," "Sunny Side Up," "Separation Anxiety," "Cone Of Shame," "'Rise Of The Fall," "Black Friday," "Motherfucker," "Matador" and completing the list is "From The Dead." Supervised by frontman Mike Patton, it will be marketed under their own imprint, Reclamation Records, and will be distributed by Patton's record label, Ipecac Recordings.
Having split in 1998, it was in 2009 that the members of the band have decided to reunite. They have toured the world since then. Furthermore, to market the new record, Faith No More will be headlining three shows in their UK tour. They are set to play shows in London Roundhouse on June 17 and in Glasgow Academy on June 14 after their Download Festival performance this summer.
Formed in 1981, Faith No More consists of Mike Patton (vocals), Mike Bordin (drums), Roddy Bottum (keyboards), Bill Gould (bass), and Jon Hudson (guitar). The physical format of "Sol Invictus" will hit record stores on May 18.
