Myanmar's agriculture industry saw investment deals as it draws interests of agricultural firms from Vietnam, South Korea, South Korea and Japan, sources said.
Vietnam's Vina Capital and Japanese firm MITSUI & Co. Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding with Myanmar Agribusiness Public Corp. Ltd to collaborate in agricultural development, people familiar with the matter disclosed.
Both MAPCO and MITSUI are expected to construct an Integrated Food and Energy Production Complex plant in Yangon region. The Japanese firm is also in the process of making arrangements for the establishment of advanced rice purifying and grinding mills.
Meanwhile, Dawoo Co. from South Korean has announced that it has not reached deal with Myanmar but hinted possible agreements within this year.
