Final Fantasy Record Update "To Slay A Sorceress" Unlocks Rinoa, Elite Dungeons

By

DeNA and Square-Enix's free-to-play mobile game for the iPhone and Android phones, Final Fantasy Record Keeper, received an update this week. This update allows the players to unlock Final Fantasy VIII's female lead, Rino Heartilly. This is the first time that the English version of the game feratured a Final Fantasy VIII record.

The Challenge Event is called "To Slay A Sorceress". This is an obvious nod to the plot of Final Fantasy VIII where Rinoa is a sorceress that served as the love interest of the male protagonist, Squall Leonhart. You can unlock Rinoa just by playing the even in Classic mode, and surviving it. However, Rinoa is just a small part of the event. This event unlocks the previous dungeons into their Elite versions, meaning, the enemies are much harder to defeat, there are better loots to pick up once you complete the dungeons, and stamina cost for participating is a lot higher than the usual.

In order to survive the Elite version of "To Slay A Sorceress", the party should be at least at level 40. Gears should also be the best possible one can equip, at least their rating must be four stars, but five stars should be optimal. Also, to get the synergy bonus, Rinoa must have a high level before embarking into the Elite version of the dungeon. The spells that are useful for this challenge are the following: Stona, Esuna, Ice, Bio, Blind, Quake, and Holy. All of the party must also have the Break abilities so that they can dish the maximum amount of damage, as well as being able to endure the damage taken.

Rinoa is a support character, just like her role in the original Final Fantasy VIII. She has access to black magic up to Rarity 5, Celerity up to Rarity 2. Her support and white magic is up to Rarity 3. In Final Fantasy Record Keeper, Rinoa can equip Thrown weapons.

"To Slay a Sorceress" is available through May 22nd. Final Fantasy Record Keeper is a mobile co-venture by Square-Enix and DeNA, and is available in the App Store and Google Play for free.
