'NCIS' Season 12 left fans a question that will be answered in the upcoming season, "Is Gibbs died or survived?" The cliffhanger is quite unexpected, and Season 13 renewal is in the works.
Last Tuesday's (May 12) episode left many fans in wonder. 'NCIS' Season 12 gave us major cliffhanger about Gibbs' condition. He joined Tony and Joanna in Afghanistan to track down the terrorist group responsible for Ned Dorneget's death in a Cairo hotel blast. And just before the season ended, Gibbs was shot by Luke, a boy he had befriended.
'NCIS' executive producer Gary Glasberg told fans that the final scene of Season 12 was purposely filmed in a "frenetic and chaotic manner" to leave the audience "unsettled and unsure of where we're headed" going into next season.
With this, it's already a good news for fans that 'NCIS' Season 13 renewal is conclusive. The premiere date has not been specified yet, but it will likely in the fall. So, those questions in left by Season 12 will be answered here.
Even though Season 13 is renewed, Mark Harmon is not sure to reprise his role. In "The Late Late Show with James Corden," actor revealed that anyone in the show is "irreplaceable."
When host of the show, Corden, implied that 'NCIS' would never "sack" Harmon, the actor responded to James, "Would they sack you? Yeah, maybe."
So, this probably means that if Gibbs will not return or the show wanted him out, his character who was being shot in the last seconds of 'NCIS' Season 12 was the last scene fans had seen.
Showrunner Glasberg also revealed that 'NCIS' Season 13 premiere will pick up "right on the heels" of the Season 12 finale, which will notably feature both dead characters in Season 8-Luke and Mike Franks-to reprise their roles.
