20th Century Fox is not a pushover in the big screen superhero game especially with their "New Mutants" deal closing . Corresponding to their call is director Josh Boone along with writer Knate Gwatlney with a throwback post via social media.

Boone of "The Fault in Our Stars" fame recently showcased on Twitter, a pre-teen photo of him and and Gwatlney rummaging through a stockpile of supehero comic books. Gwatlney is also responsible for the screenplay of Halle Berry's latest thriller entitled "Kidnap". Although there still has been no exact timeframe for this superhero team movie, producer Simon Kinberg didn't hide his feelings about the inclusion of the 36-year-old comic-book enthusiastist turned director for the X-Men spinoff.

"We're so excited to explore this new part of the X-Men universe, and so excited to do it with Josh, who is uniquely suited to tell this story about young characters," Kinberg told Deadline about Boone's background.

The standalone spin-off tackles an upstart set of young mutants in Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. The New Mutants have been Marvel Comic's resident superheroes-in-training and have graced the publication in various offshoots in the X-Men comic book franchise. Some of the notable members of this teenage superhero team are Cannonball, Sunspot, Wolfsbane, Karma, and Danielle Moonstar aka Mirage.

The upcoming movie may still be a long shot as Boone is currently tied to a couple of book to movie adaptations. Warner Bros. has hired Boone to write and direct a movie basing on Stephen King's The Stand. Universal Studios also is included in the director's present resume as talks of the second novel in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles entitled "The Vampire Lestat" is in the works.

In more related news, 20th Century Fox maybe continuing the legacy of the X-Men series in theaters but it has been a different playing field for comic book fans as Marvel has announced late last year that there will no longer be future X-Men and Fantastic Four comic book titles.

Future incoming movies for the X-Men series in 2016 are Deadpool, X-Men:Apocalypse, and Gambit.
