Daredevil undeniably became a breakout hit during its season one run, and now the show looks to continue its newfound success by bringing back Rosario Dawson.
Dawson, who plays Claire Temple on the show, has a romantic link to the show's main character, Matt Murdock, so her being brought back doesn't come as any real surprise, and it probably would have been more of a shock to learn that she would leave after such a successful first season.
Temple was often found tending to the wounds of Murdock after the latter got into many of his back-alley brawls along Hell's Kitchen, according to Deadline.
Her being so prominently featured in the first season helped elevate Temple and Dawson herself into fan-favorite status.
"Claire Temple proved to be a fan favorite in season 1, and we can't wait for fans to see all the plans we have for her next," said Daredevil's Executive Producer Jeph Loeb.
The Claire Temple character is of particular interest within the Marvel television universe because indications suggest she might make appearances on more than just one show. Apart from Daredevil, Temple could also make appearances on A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and even the mini-series, The Defenders, according to the Independent.
If this turns out to be true, then Daredevil and Marvel choosing to cast a relatively big-name actress such as Dawson in the role of Temple and then bringing her back right away makes a ton of sense since the character will figure into storylines spanning the shows.
As for what else will happen in the second season of Daredevil, nothing is really set in stone as of yet, but rumors suggest that some familiar names may be making their debuts.
Bullseye and Elektra, who have appeared in feature-length films in the past, may be joining the cast, according to Gospel Herald.
Rumors are even saying that thinly-veiled references made on the show are actually referring to the two characters, but this is obviously only speculation at this point.
Season two of Daredevil is expected to return to Netflix in 2016.
