Max Levchin, one of the co-founders of online payment mogul Paypal has launched a business competitor last Tuesday. The mobile payment start-up is named Affirm and would be competing with Paypal for the ever increasing mobile payment market.
Affirm claims that its technology assists shoppers in completing purchases done online more easily as the platform would be the use of smart phones and other mobile devices. The company is focused on streamlining the mobile checkout process when done online, which is often attended by inputting a whole lot of data from addresses to credit card numbers. Instead, Affirm would allow the whole process to be completed in just two taps of a smart phone screen, one to get to the participating merchant while the other is to confirm.
Paypal remains the market leader but there has been stiff competition from other start-ups such as Square and where the focused demand lay in the use of mobile devices.
