"Attack on Titan" is by far one of the most successful manga-based anime series to hit the TV. The show's season one finale in 2013 left everyone in suspense and fans are already anticipating for the sequel of the Hajime Isayama manga adaptation, which is set to premiere in 2016.
Director Tesuro Araki delivered the good news that "Attack on Titan" (Shingeki no Kyojin) is set to return to the television for season 2 in 2016. While fans still have quite a long time to wait for the Hajime Isayama manga anime adaptation to come into the small screen, a couple of spoilers reveal that fans will be delighted to see that season 2 will have less filler episodes.
The reason for the long wait is that the staff and crew will need more published chapters from the manga before they begin production, as the show previously covered more than half of the published manga. In order to give more coverage for "Attack on Titan" season 2, fans will need to sit back and settle for 2 upcoming live action movies, which are slated to be released in the United States this year.
The first compilation movie titled, "Attack on Titan Part 1: Crimson Bow and Arrow" premiered in Nov. 2014 in Japan and featured the compressed first 13 episodes of the first season. The second compilation film titled, "Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom" is set to be released on June 27, 2015. "Wings of Freedom" covers the second half of the compiled "Attack on Titan" or "Shingeki no Kyojin," which had a total of 25 episodes in 2013.
"Attack on Titan" season 2 will see the return of Eren Jaeger (voiced by Yuki Kaji), as he sets on protecting the humans against the giants. Eren will begin to discover shocking revelations about Titans in season 2. Yui Ishikawa will be back as voice for Mikasa Ackermann and Marina Inoue as Armin Arlert.
