Asus FonePad 8 is the motherboard maker's take on mobile phone tablets launched in India. The company made a strategic move for its product introduction considering its features and price.
Asus FonePad 8 features dual-SIM support on an 8-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1,280x800 pixels resolution. It's powered by Intel Atom Z3560 64-bit quad-core processor clocking at 1.33 GHz with 1 GB RAM and 16 GB storage. It runs on Android Kitkat 4.4 with its own Zen UI, has multi-touch, light sensor features with stereo speakers. It's also WiFi and Bluetooth enabled with micro USB slot. The device has a bit lower than average 5MP rear camera and 2 MP selfie snapper. It has a slim body with and light weight considering its size with only 328 grams.
Its launch has been well received in India and has so far earned great expert reviews. Users are mostly impressed with the FonePad8 performance and storage capability that is comparable to high-end counterparts in a more affordable price. Most reviewers take it as a device focused on multimedia with its large 8-inch display, stereo speakers and 16 GB storage which is expandable up to 64 GB. Its processors are also capable playing movies and games with minimal lag time. Another plus for FonePad 8 is its battery life that lasts up to 12 hours according to its manufacturers.
Asus strategically launched most of its mid-ranged products Asia which has a big potential of getting a big share for the mid-ranged products market. The Taiwan based company is reportedly aiming for 25 million sales for 2015 by shipping a total of 17 million smartphones outside of China.
Asus FonePad 8 is one of the mid-ranged products from Asus that targets the Asian market. It has been well received by its chosen market so far and the company remains optimistic with its goals.
