Vodafone Group Plc has been planning to bid for the takeover Kabel Deutschland, Germany's biggest cable operator, a bank familiar with the matter said.
The banker told Reuters that the management of Vodafone has been discussing how to approach the cable operator after its takeover bid went public, adding that the British multinational telecommunications company would make public disclosure if it were to immediately discuss with Kabel Deutschland about the plan.
The share of Kabel was trading 2.5% lower at 1413 GMT while the share of Vodafone traded 1.02% higher.
Vodafone's top management in London, England, however, had not yet commenced the plan initiated by its unit in the country.
Earlier, three people close to the matter were cited by Bloomberg as revealing that the acquisition plan of Vodafone for Kabel was suspended.
