Samsung Gear VR for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge is continuously being rated highly after its recent launch this month. The Korean based company stick with the $199 price tag while adding more improvements to the VR device.
Samsung came up with a new version of the Gear VR exclusively compatible with Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. It closely resembles the previous Gear VR for Note 4 with over-heating improvements. The new Gear VR has an internal fan that makes a big difference. Its fan is not at all noticeable and users could barely hear the whirring sound.
Test users reported an hour of quality VR time. The new Gear is also lighter although it no longer has a memory slot which the older version used to have along with a 16 GB SD card. There were also minor adjustments on the head straps. The experts loved the experience except for a few minor setbacks.
Apparently, Samsung loves the idea of exclusivity. Even its USB connection has a preference aside from being compatible with only one or two mobile models from Samsung. Its USB connection works well with a Samsung made cable or the ones that come along with the phone. There are also reports that the display is a little pixilated but it looks like Samsung is on a mission for a better VR experience in the future.
Although Gear VR for Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and Note 4 are already available publicly, Samsung still refers to them as an Innovator Edition which practically means that the models are open for improvements from developers and not yet completely what the company has in mind for public use.
Samsung is possibly having a great market share and leadership with the new Gear VR for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Thanks to its partnership with Occulus and its current brand recognition, there could be more to come from this company.
