Vodafone Group Plc is still considering a takeover bid of Kabel Deutschland, Germany's biggest cable operator. This was shared with Reuters by a banker familiar with the transaction.
The management of the UK carrier is determining the path to take after the planned takeover became public. Should Vodafone reach out to the cable operator, it would have to disclose the planned takeover to the shareholding public.
Bloomberg confirmed the information with three other well placed sources and they said that Vodafone is putting the planned takeover on hold as of the moment.
Reuters broke the news of Vodafone's plan to purchase Kabel Deutschland but the top management in London had not yet approved of the plan drafted by Vodafone's subsidiary in Germany. Both Vodafone and Kabel declined to comment.
On another front, a source told Reuters that Vodafone had engaged the services of Goldman Sachs for the possible bid for Kabel, in the amount of Eur10 billion or US$13.07 billion.
