"World of Warcraft" is finally confirmed for release in the theaters after suffering from slow development for more than half of the game's life since it was created. It took so long to produce that people aware of the movie being made were either losing hope or were used to the fate of common video games aspiring for landing in the Hollywood.
Sighs of relief has escaped from waiting avid gamers for its December 2015 announcement for cinemas. However, Universal Pictures pushed it back by three months to avoid bumping with the expected blockbuster "Star Wars: Rogue One" so that the movie will come out on March 11, 2016, as accounted by Variety.
This could have been fine for the viewers who are anticipating the adaptation of the popular video game - until the company came to a realization that the film is best released during the summer.
Duncan Jones who directed the film tweeted on his personal account, "Got good news and bad news. Uni (Universal Pictures) have decided Warcraft to be a summer flick. Yay! Bad news, that means we have to wait till June 2016!"
While some fans understood the traditional summer blockbuster window, the others are not taking it lightly. They expressed their disappointment questioning what is wrong with releasing the movie in March 11, reasoning that this date would be perfect premiere date, coming out two weeks before Batman v. Superman. It would simply rule the box office.
Movie critics who witnessed the fate of other video games that were turned into Hollywood movies such as "House of the Dead," "DOA: Dead or Alive," and "Silent Hill" can see why Universal is being wary about the release date of the widely favored "World of Warcraft." Albeit popular among gamers, it still needs to establish itself in the movie world and that includes getting the mainstream audience to have to see the movie.
The company believes that "World of Warcraft" starring Dominic Cooper as King Llane Wrynn, Travis Fimmel as Anduin Lothar, Ben Foster is Medivh "The Guardian" will best graze the cinemas on June 10, 2016.
