At least three banks from Spain have offered non-binding bids for nationalized bank Catalunya Banc, according to three people familiar with the matter.
The said banks are Sabadell, Popular and Santanader, which submitted the bids for the auction of Catalunya Banc, one of the major lenders in Catalonia's northern region.
In 2012, Catalunya was bailed out through funds worth 9 billion euros from Europe to revamp its capital after being hit by the property crash in Spain five years ago.
The lender had recently decided to transform itself to a government-backed bank from its troubled real estate assets in the hope of having full recovery.
Catalunya ranks second to Caixabank in one of the richest Spanish regions, allowing it to draw interest from bidders.
