Discussions over how to resolve issues that have been troubling online video website Hulu LLC jointly controlled by News Corp. and Walt Disney Co. have started, with the possibility of either one of the stake-holding companies will make sale of its stake.
News Corp. and Walt Disney have been making indications of their aim to buy each other's stake in Hulu in which each of them owns about a third. However, people familiar with the matter also claimed that both companies may also choose the option to sell their stakes to an outside party.
Both companies have been baffled over what path they want the online video site should go to.
Comcast Corp., which takes the majority control of NBC, owns most of the third of Hulu. However, it is being prevented by regulatory requirements from making vote of its stake.
Adding to Hulu's uncertainty, Jason Kilar, its chief executive, has recently indicated his plan to step down by the end of this year's first quarter.
