Banishment is just about the most serious form of punishment any game developer can level upon its audience, and it appears Daybreak Studios has chosen to use that tool to weed out cheaters in H1Z1. For those who may not be familiar with H1Z1, it is open world, survival-themed MMO set during the zombie apocalypse, a favorite time period for game developers these days.
The game has been quite successful, but just as with most MMOs that manage to register any kind of success, cheaters are quick to come in an attempt to undercut other players and stake their own claim to the land within the virtual world. Because of this, Daybreak Studios, the game's developer, has chosen to ban players who have been violating the rules of the game en masse over the weekend, according to Gamespot.
In what the studio termed as a massive ban wave, players who have been in violation of any of the terms of service or of the game's code of conduct received a shock when their accounts were suddenly not working anymore. Daybreak is cracking down in particular on gamers who have been taking advantage of ESP hacks in the game, according to Gamespresso.
Daybreak has three different forms of disciplinary actions they use towards gamers. The first is to simply issue a warning, while the second kind is a suspension of an account that could last anywhere from one day to a week. Daybreak said the action they took over the weekend is the third kind, which is permanent banishment.
In related news, Daybreak Studios has also said that they have noticed that they are looking to create a new, day-only server for the game, according to Game Rant.
The developer said they are looking into the idea of a new server because most H1Z1 players log out when the game turns to night. They are also looking into changing the night cycle inside the game.
