British Luxury Brands Exploring Partnership in India

By

Jaguar Land Rover, one of Britain's most exclusive car brands, is said to be doing its due diligence as to the possibility of manufacturing its luxury cars in India. The exploration is in line with the company seeking business opportunities in emerging markets.

The brand would be ably assisted by Tata Motors, one of the Indian conglomerates whose core business is the manufacture and marketing of cars and other vehicles in India and abroad. The expansion was spurred by increased demand in China and other Asian markets, resulting in record profits in 2012 for the company.

According to one anonymous source, the deal would allow the manufacture and building of the Jaguar XF and the Land Rover Freelander from scratch in India. Currently, the British brands assemble two models in India using parts and accessories imported from the UK. Another possibility is the building of the Range Rover Evoque in India.
