Singapore Telecommunications and software provider Amdocs have launched a development center in Israel as part of SingTel's move to investment in new technology.
The new center will be called the third "LifeLabs" and is an addition to similar development centers opened in Singapore and Boston.
The opening of the LifeLabs marks the initial focus of SingTel on voice and facial recognition as well as on devices that are capable of enabling mobile and wifi networks to achieve efficient productivity.
SingTel's digital life group chief executive Allen Lew said that the move reflects their response to the shift of customers to using mobile devices for communication. He added that the company has a S$200 million corporate venture fund, part of which will be focused on Israel.
Eli Geman, chief executive of Amdocs, said in a statement that the new center would enable Israeli technology to enter the Asian market.
Moreover, SingTel also plans to invest in new companies in line with its intention to support academic and research institutes and collaborate with angel investors to look for interesting technologies.
