US Daredevil Dean Potter and another colleague did not make it alive after doing a flying stunt in California on Saturday night. Potter's last post on Instagram was a photo of his dog Whisper whom he considers his bestfriend, with the hashtag #NeverLeaveTheDogBehind. Unfortunately, he has left her behind.
LEAVING HIS BESTFRIEND BEHIND
Dean Potter, an artist, a climber, line walker and human-body flyer, expressed how he missed his dog and posted a picture of it that showed only its nose and mouth. No one knew he would eventually leave her behind. It indicated that the dog was with him during their stay at Yosemite Park. In fact, it was most of the time brought by Potter during his travels and even in his stunts. When followers heard of his passing, sympathies flooded on his Instagram account. One called him a legend while some wished him peace. "May you climb the mountains of heaven", said another.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Aside from Potter, 43, his fellow extreme athlete Graham Hunt, 29 also died when the two tried to fly at high speed at a height of 7,500 feet at the national park which was forbidden of such activities. A report said since it was illegal, the pair attempted to do the act at night but they were not able to use their parachutes. The two went missing on Saturday night and they also started to lose contact. It was in the morning of the following day when their bodies were spotted at the Yosemite valley from a helicopter by a search and rescue team. In one of his previous interviews, Potter said he feared of dying while doing his stunts.
Meanwhile, another source confirmed that Whisper and Potter's girlfriend, who both went with him on the adventure, are alive. They were listed as survivors.
Dean Potter dared almost every risky act but the only stunt he did not do this time was cheating death. Still, fans could only pray that he will continue to reach the highest peak in his afterlife.
