"Spider-Man" fans are excited over reports that an upcoming reboot will take place in the next few years. As of late, not much detail has been revealed about the film, but actor Norman Reedus recently confirmed that his son Mingus turned down his audition offers.
In an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, "The Walking Dead" star shared that his 15-year-old son received several calls asking him if he would be interested to audition for the role of Peter Parker. However, Mingus declined all of the audition offers for the titular role because he said he doesn't want to be famous like his father.
At one point, Reedus' teenager even said that he didn't want to audition for fear that it could ruin his private life.
"I asked him, 'Do you want to audition?' He asked, 'What part?' I said, 'I think you'd be 'Spider-Man.' He said, 'No, I don't want to ruin my life.' I went, 'What do you mean?' He said, 'I don't want to be famous,'" Reedus recounted.
The doting father can't help but agree with his son because during his conversation with the publication, Reedus said that there are downsides to being famous. At this point in his life, he is unable to eat out privately because fans immediately notice him, Inquisitr noted.
Despite declining to take part in the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot, Reedus said that he is extremely proud of his son because he is such a good role model, IBTimes reported. Meanwhile, as of late, Marvel and Sony Pictures have not yet confirmed who they tapped to play Peter Parker in the upcoming spinoff. There are some reports suggesting that "Enders Game's" Asa Butterfield is still in the running for the role.
The new Peter Parker will be making a cameo appearance in "Captain America: Civil War," which is slated for release in the United States on May 6, 2016.
