"Fear the Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman recently revealed details about the upcoming spinoff of "The Walking Dead" on AMC.
According to Kirkman, "Fear the Walking Dead" will focus on two teachers from Los Angeles who are in relationship. Madison (Kim Dickens), a widow, and Travis (Cliff Curtis), a divorced man, will form a union and start their own family.
Both Madison and Travis have been blessed with children from their previous marriages. Madison has two children, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Nick (Frank Dillane), while Travis has one child, Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie).
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kirkman divulged more details about the series' cast.
"There's a large cast in this show, just like there's a large cast in 'The Walking Dead.' But I think as its core this is a story of Travis and Madison, who are these two school teachers that both have kids from previous marriages and are very much in love," he said.
Kirkman went on to explain that Madison and Travis will be unlike all the other onscreen couples on television today. The lead characters of "Fear the Walking Dead" love, respect and support each other no matter what. However, he clarified that the two are not officially wed yet.
When asked how and when "Fear the Walking Dead" will feature the zombie outbreak, Kirkman revealed that it would be very on, Geek reported.
"We're very early, but if you think about the way a zombie outbreak would happen, it would happen very organically. It would be happening for a while behind the scenes," he explained.
Kirkman also dished on the biggest similarity between "The Walking Dead" and "Fear the Walking Dead." According to him, all the characters will find ways to survive the zombie outbreak," Rotten Tomatoes noted.
"These are characters that are focused on survival and they're not focused on saving the world and they're not focused on curing the outbreak. They're focusing on making sure they have enough food, making sure that they are in a safe place, and making sure that they are not being attacked," he said.
"Fear the Walking Dead" will premiere on AMC this summer.
