Chromecast was first released through online purchases since the month of July in 2013. Since then, the app has been continuously upgrading itself, and customers seem to grow in number as new surprises comes in.
A simple USB drive-like device, Google's Chromecast allows its users to stream through their television with web-based content. Just by sticking the device on the HDMI port and one can now stream. It can also be connected to other apps such as Netflix, HBO Go, Youtube, WatchESPN, Pandora and many more. With the use of your phone, tablet or laptop as a controller or remote, online streaming has never been any better. You can browse, play, pause, rewind, control the volume and even make playlists.

As to the latest update, the companion app to Chromecast, dongle, has had an update just a few days ago. And it served a new level of design to the original app. The update version 1.11.4116 brings several interface changes.
The devices view of the app was redesigned with a card-looking interface. The devices screen more so, makes a list of what the backdrop is being displayed along with casting status.
The new update also has a new setting to change the backdrop movement. In addition, one can browse through the history of backdrop images shown in the phone screen.
This update is to improve the reliability of backdrop cards, and to also improve multi-user and multi-Chromecast support. This all goes with the changes brought to the backdrop settings. Lastly, there is also new background content in the form of Street Art from the Google Cultural institute.
