Penny Dreadful is back for its second season and aims to bring more horror to television viewing.
This season, set in a demimonde world, where monsters, evil spirits, and demons exist alongside the humans, medium Vanessa Iles, and Ethan Chandler's relationship grows deeper as they joing Sir Malcolm Murray, Dr. Victor Frankenstein, and Sembene so they can work together to banish the evil forces that continue to haunt them.
"This season, Vanessa and Ethan form a deeper bond as the group, including Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton), Dr. Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway), and Sembene (Danny Sapani), unite to banish the evil forces that threaten to destroy them. Meanwhile, Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney), the Creature (Rory Kinnear) and Brona (Billie Piper) are all waging battles of their own. Patti LuPone will guest star as a mysterious character of great importance in Vanessa's past. Helen McCrory returns as Evelyn Poole (a.k.a. Madame Kali), the seductive spiritualist who will pose a unique threat to our protagonists this season, along with Simon Russell Beale, who is back as eccentric Egyptologist Ferdinand Lyle. Additional guest stars include Douglas Hodge as a Scotland Yard investigator; Sarah Greene as Poole's powerful daughter, Hecate; and Johnny Beauchamp as a man with a singular past" the series synopsis wrote.
While the series is now in its 4th episode called "Evil Spirits in Heavenly Places" in its 2nd season, a link between the Verdis Diablo relics and Lucifer has been made, as the relics talk about a dark story of Lucifer which is connected to Vannessa. In the episode, Vanessa accompanied Dr. Frankenstein in shopping a few clothings for Lily, who was the ressurected Brona, who is now being formed to fit the ideal woman of Dr. Frankenstein.
Lily's past comes to her subconsciously as she was forced to wear the corset which is part of the social positioning that tells that women belongs in the house to take care of her children, while the man in the family leads it. Pain is vivid as Lily uncomfortably wear the corset.
The series' fifth episode is coming up which reportedly revolves around the mansion being attacked, Ethan being interrogated by Ethan, growing impatience of the Creature with Dr. Frankenstein, deepened friendship between the Creature and Vanessa, and the humiliation that Angelique gets while being with Dorian.
