Tycoons Seek Help from former BP Bosses

By

Alfa Group, the group that brokered the deal from the sale of the joint venture giant TNK-BP, is now discussing with former BP CEOs John Browne and Tony Hayward as to international oil venture projects. The group is led by German Khan, who met with Hayward and Browne as well as other possible venture partners in London.

According to sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, Khan as current head of TNK-BP and partner in the Alfa Group consortium was seeking to find potential partners. With Rosneft now nearing completion of the acquisition of TNK-BP, there is much money left to be invested and utilized. The consortium stands to receive US$28 billion for half of TNK-BP. Of that amount, half would be for Alfa while the remainder is divvied up with other consortium partners like Access and Renova.

Alfa's share can be reinvested in either the oil and gas industry again or opt to invest in telecommunications or other industries according to the sources.
