Henrik Fisker, the founder and executive chairman of Fisker Automotive, has quit his company. He said that he was in direct conflict with top executives of the automaker over business strategy. His abrupt resignation from the cash strapped electric car company was made through an email.
The email said, "The main reasons for his resignation are several major disagreements that Henrik Fisker has with the Fisker Automotive executive management on the business strategy." This sudden development comes at an inopportune time when the company's last car release was July 2012 and is in the hunt for a new financial partner to provide much needed funds to capitalize the operations of the company. It is also deep in building its latest model, the Atlantic, a plug in hybrid vehicle. The top two contenders are Geely, the owners of Volvo from Sweden and China's Dongfeng Motor Group Co.
According to Fisker Automotive, "The company has a strong and experienced management team and its strategy has not changed. Mr. Fisker's departure is not expected to impact the company's pursuit of strategic partnerships and financing."
