Dean Metropoulus is a giant in the food industry business but not a household name yet, though this may change upon his purchase of iconic snack cake brand Hostess. He together with his sons Darren and Evan have teamed up with Apollo Global Management to purchase Hostess Brands Inc.
According to individuals who have worked with the food industry veteran, "I think of him as having the Midas touch. He's got far more wins than he does losses. He comes into situations and is quickly able to evaluate what the issues are and puts all his efforts towards fixing them... I think he's going to do pretty well here with Hostess." The opinions came from individuals who spoke with Reuter on the condition of anonymity.
In 2012, Forbes ranked Metropoulus as No.377 on its billionaire list from the United States. He currently resides in Greenwich, CT and is of Greek ancestry. He has been on a shopping spree as of late, purchasing brands of milk to frozen food and even pickles. The latest acquisition is Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer, a hipster favorite nowadays.
