New batch of "Ant-Man" publicity photos hit the Web: Spider-Man Easter Eggs rumored to be in the movie

Marvel Studios is stepping up the marketing push for the upcoming release of Ant-Man this July. The post production includes release of the latest batch of promotional images in the upcoming Marvel film.

The set of twelve publicity photos show different characters from Ant-Man, including Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Evangeline Lily as Hope Van Dyne, and Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym, the inventor of the Ant-Man suit. Also included are images of Corey Stoll as Scott Lang's nemesis Darren Cross/Yellowjacket. A few of the images also show the costumes for Ant-Man and Yellowjacket. Some of the images have already been featured before, as covered by Empire Online.

The Ant-Man movie has taken a long and rocky road in the transition from page to screen. Most significantly, former director Edgar Wright left the project over creative differences with Marvel Studios on the best treatment of the character, to be replaced with Peyton Reed. It had also been slightly overshadowed by the massive marketing efforts orchestrated for the May release of Avengers: Age of Ultron due to the release dates of the films being only months apart from each other. Fortunately, Marvel has made sure that Ant-Man would get a share of the promotional efforts as well, directly or otherwise.

Aside from trailers, TV spots and publicity photos, Screen Rant reports that rumors are rife that the Ant-Man movie will contain numerous Easter Eggs and references to Spider-Man and the technological aspects of the superhero, such as his connection with Oscorp, a company owned by Spider-Man nemesis Norman Osborn, or the villain known as the Green Goblin.

While no actor has been announced to have won the part, the character of Spider-Man is said to be making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in next year's Captain America: Civil War.

Ant-Man will hit theaters July 17, followed by Captain America: Civil War in May 2016 and Doctor Strange in November of the same year.
