True detective is two months away from coming back to the small screen but new updates regarding the show is starting to resurface on the Internet lately. The TV show's writer Nic Pizzolatto had revealed some details regarding the upcoming season of the show.
According to reports, the show will have complete new characters for the upcoming season. The well-loved detective Rustin by Matthew McConaughey and detective Martin Hart portrayed by Woody Harrelson won't be coming back for the upcoming season instead actor Colin Farrell, Rachel MacAdams and Taylor Kitsch will be the main lead and will play as a cop.
Season 2 of True Detective will revolve around the journey of two investigators as they try to solve the death of a 52-year-old man who was brutally murdered and dumped on a highway and was left with mysterious looking symbols imprinted on his chest. The said mysterious looking symbols is then being linked a supernatural incident in the history of transportation of the United States.
The second season of the show is said to be just like the premiere season with the three main cops suffering from their own problems with Farell's character suffering from his past experiences, McAdams' being into gambling and alcohol and Kitsch's being suspended after letting off an arrested drunk driver.
HBO assured the fans that although there are still dark elements season 2 wouldn't be as dark as the previous episode, to which Lombardo had reportedly confirmed, "It's still dark. Nic explores the darkness in people's souls...It's not as dark, but it's not a light ride. Nic likes looking into the crevices of the soul" Lombardo stated.
It was revealed that the show would be primarily set in the suburbs of California to create a more psyche atmosphere to match the theme and the story of the show. Also, T Bone Burnett who was responsible for the soundtrack of the previous episode won't be coming back for the next season.
According to the director of HBO channel Michael Lombardo the shooting for season 2 started around September of 2014 to catch up with the season premier which is set on July of 2015 .
The previous season primarily revolved around the story of two detectives, detective Cole and Hart who continued to resolve a case they had investigated 17 years ago.
True detective will be consists of eight episodes and is scheduled to comeback on June 21, 2015.
