Zenfone 4,5, and 6 have received the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop updates from Asus. The launching is pushed through an over-the-air update and users can now download and install the important files in case they don't want to wait for the notification from Asus.
Last month, the update on Android 5.0 Lollipop for ZenFone has been cancelled because of the verification issues. But its very surprising that Asus is able to pull off the launching on its ZenFone device. Instead of getting a 3-4 months delayed, they able to fix everything in a couple of weeks.
During the ZenTalk forums, Asus announced the details for changing the Android version for ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and Zenfone 6. As a result of the upgrade, some apps that had been installed in the phone using the old Android might be incompatible with Android 5.O.
Some of the applications that might not work with new ZenFone 4 are Google Text-to-Speech, battery widget and Movie studio. The same goes to ZenFone 5 that might not recognize apps like PhotoFrame widget, battery widget, Movie studies, CMCLient, Magic Smoke Wallpaper and Cloud Print. ZenFone 6 still have the same issue with ZenFone 5 and an additional Google Text-to-Speech error.
The issue of incompatibility can cause problem to ZenFone apps once they upgrade it to Android 5.0 Lollipop such as widgets for Asus contacts. Asus suggested that users should remove those apps and replace it with new widgets for their smartphones.
ZenFone 6 users should back up their files before upgrading to Android 5.0 because it will stop supporting the NFTS format of the SD cards.
To install the update, users need to click the Download option and once the downloading process is done, they only need to tap install and wait for the phone to restart and run with the new OS.
If they access the update through OTA, they have to do it manually by going to the setting option and look for the About phone section then proceed to system update followed by the Check Now option. Then you can have now your new Android 5.O version inside your ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6.
